User interface (UX): Eurorack is 3U high and uses mini-jack connectors. The classic 4U format is 33% taller and uses banana jacks. Eurorack jacks sometimes use a switching mechanism (“normalizing”) to route a signal to the input if no cable is inserted. They also carry a 0V (ground) connection — this can cause an audible pop or glitch when plugging in a cable. Banana jacks do neither of these things.
Circuitry and Sound: There is generally no audible difference between the Eurorack and 4U versions of a module. Both use the same circuitry, and voltage levels are identical. The choice is mainly about interface and workflow, not sound quality.

That’s a tough question — it really depends on your background and motivation. The best way to dive into the Serge world is to start with a small system and spend time exploring it. Try to resist the urge to begin with a huge system or to include every module right away. The most essential Serge modules — like the SSG, GTO, DSG, or GTS — are very deep. Even discovering just a fraction of their possibilities takes time and focus.
Mantra II is an excellent entry point, offering a balanced mix of oscillators, slopes, and utilities. The 4x4 format also makes it easy to begin with a compact system and then adjust, rearrange, or swap modules as your needs evolve. If you already know you want to go further, Mantra II combined with Tantra makes for an amazing two-panel system — powerful, versatile, and still coherent as a starting point.
Another great pathway is the Paperface series. These panels revisit the very origins of Serge design from the early 1970s — but with significantly improved circuitry, tracking, and stability. Paperface is also very stylish: enamel-like silver surfaces with elegant wooden sides, while keeping the spirit of the original paperface panels alive.
Whichever path you choose, the key is to start small, explore deeply, and let your curiosity guide you further into the Serge universe.
The chip crisis forced us to focus on complete modules and to suspend all DIY offerings (apart from certain Haible PCBs). At the moment we are more than busy with the production of complete modules and systems, so it seems unlikely that DIY will return in the near future.
For simple orders — for example, if you just want a Eurorack module or to add a second 4U panel and already have one of our PSUs — you can simply place your order directly through the website.

We use DHL Express (or UPS) to ship almost everywhere worldwide and always provide tracking. If you need delivery to a more exotic destination or overseas territory, please check with us before placing your order.
If you order a Eurorack module, a Serge panel, or a 4U system that is in stock and does not require any customization, processing usually takes 1–3 days. For orders to non-EU countries, obtaining customs clearance and export papers may add a few extra days before the shipment can leave. Shipping itself typically takes only 1–3 days.
If you order a 4U system that is not readily in stock, building, calibrating, and testing your system may take 1–3 weeks before it can be shipped.
